Graveside services for Charles Owens, 87, of Lubbock, TX, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the Abernathy Cemetery with Steve Gauntt officiating. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, TX. Mr. Owens died Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Lubbock, TX. He was born May 24, 1922 in Commerce, TX. He married Mozelle Owens on February 23, 1945 in Garden City, KS. He was a longtime Lubbock resident and was a farmer and rancher and enjoyed woodworking, giving and cars. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Owens on January 1, 2003; granddaughter, Jiminey Owens in 1975; and his parents, Raymond and Maude Owens. He is survived by a son, Jim Owens and his wife Sandy of Lubbock, TX; granddaughter, Cinnamon Nieman of Lubbock, TX; and 2 great grandchildren, Chance Nieman and Jiminey Nieman.
