Bio
George Paul Rainey, Sr., 83, of 3316 Piedmont Hwy., passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004. He was born Febr. 3, 1921 in Polk County. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie Wine and Nora Eymo Ellis Rainey and his wife, Nina Mae Rainey. Survivors include a daughter, Gloria Rainey Shoemaker of Austell, Ga.; a son, George Paul Rainey, Jr. of Cedartown; brothers, Marlon and Hoyt Rainey of Cedartown; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held June 16 at the Gammage Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Benjamin Lindsey, Rev. Dallas Brock, Evangelist Steve Dudley and Mrs. Dolores Donaldson officiating. Interment followed in Polk Memory Gardens. Pallbearers were Brian Shoemaker, Joshua Rainey, David Bell, Stanley Bell, Larry Bell, Ryan Lackey, Tony McWhorter and Don Ledford. The Gammage Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
