She was born on April 28, 1928 in Lexington, Nebraska to William and Lucille (Morgan) Saulsbury. Jean attended public schools in Overton and Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1946. Following High School, Jean started working at Lexington State Bank. On January 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to Bob McTygue at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton, Nebraska. They were the first couple married in the church after it was rebuilt. Three daughters were blessed to this union: Barbara, Sharlene and Peggy. The family made their home in Overton and Jean started working at the Overton National Bank full-time in 1961. Jean held several positions throughout the years at the bank and enjoyed working with her co-workers until she retired in 1990. Following her time at the Bank, she began a new career in making doll clothes. She was a very talented seamstress, which started many years ago when she made personalized quilts for her grandchildren. She made the clothes for American Girl Doll, which were sold by her and her daughter, Barbara in Kansas City. She sold the doll clothes all over the country. Bob passed away in 2013 and Jean moved to Kearney in 2014, living at Northridge before she moved to Good Samaritan Society – St. John's until her passing. Jean was a role model of service to her community and church. For many years, she helped with the meals at the Overton Senior Center and other special events. Jean was an avid golfer and was a member of the Overton Golf Course for many years. In her young years, Jean and Bob enjoyed going dancing, traveling and playing bridge. Jean also got to accompany Bob on the Hero Flight which was a great honor. Family was very important to Jean and family get togethers were always a highlight.
