Charles "Ed" Edward Saulsbury, age 73, of North Platte , passed away Friday, February 16, 2007 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center . He was born July 19, 1933 in Overton, Nebraska to William and Lucille Morgan Saulsbury. He attended school in Overton. On May 23, 1953 he married Doris Leggott at Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington . On June 9, 1953 he entered the U.S. Army. He served in Saulsburg, Austria.. He was discharged on April 29, 1955. The couple moved to Lexington where he worked for Dawson Public Power. They moved to North Platte in 1958 where he continued to work for Dawson Public Power. He retired as a chief area serviceman when his health wouldn't allow him to continue. Ed was a member of the Saint Patrick's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 1211 as a 4th degree Knight, the Eagles, and the American Legion. He entertained his family and friends with his unique sense of humor. He traveled all 93 counties of Nebraska on his Goldwing motorcycle. In past years he enjoyed restoring old engines and Studebakers. In recent years, he spent his time researching and restoring walking sprinklers as well as antique bicycles. Survivors include his wife Doris of North Platte; two daughters, Patricia (Joe) and Mary (Doug) both of North Platte; two sons, Michael (Pat) Saulsbury of Weimar, Texas and Kevin Saulsbury of Thornton, Colorado; a sister, Jean (Bob) McTygue of Overton; a brother, Larry (Gerda) Saulsbury of Lexington; six grandchildren, Mandy (Chris) of Groves, TX, Nicholas (Kristy) , Kyle (Sara) Logan (Allie) Hunter and Miles all of North Platte; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Maura, Gracelynn, Abbi, Morgan, Dylan and Grant; and two sisters-in-law Nadia Saulsbury of Washington, and Leigh Saulsbury of Colorado.. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Katherine; two brothers, Keith and Richard; and a daughter-in-law Jana Saulsbury. A memorial has been established to Saint Patrick's Catholic Church Processional Cross or Sound system, and online condolences may be made at www.adamsswanson.com. Christian Wake Services will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21st at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 22nd, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church with the Reverend Jim Golka officiating. Burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors.
