Bio

Tippie Christine Deardorff, 97, of Clyde died Monday, January 24, 2022, in an Abilene hospice facility. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Clyde First Baptist Church with Dr. Toby Henson officiating under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. Burial will follow in Admiral Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Tippie was born May 14, 1924, in Paducah to John Luther and Cynthia Ida (Walkup) Hawk. She graduated from Farwell High School. She moved to Abilene from Farwell in 1941. She married Gordon P. Deardorff in Pratt, Kansas on September 7, 1943. Tippie worked for JC Penney for over 30 years. While she was working as Catalog Director for their Six Flags Mall Store, her department won a national award. She was a member of the Clyde First Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Graham of Clyde; brother, John Hawk of Clyde; three grandchildren, Christi Brennan of Seattle, Washington, Jami Ramos and husband Abraham of Tijeras, New Mexico and Philip Devin Norman and Sherry Stephens of Melissa; three great grandchildren, Michael Brennan and wife Maggie, Cody Brennan and Kaleigh Christine Brennan Bigger and husband Gavin; two great-great grandchildren, Addison Grace Brennan and Bailey Bigger, former grandson-in-law, Mike Brennan and many beloved nieces and nephews. Tippie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon; her daughter, Karen Deardorff; brother, Bill Hawk and sister, Tommye Amanda Mitchell.
