Murley E. Calvert Jr. FAIRHOPE Murley E. "Mugsy" Calvert Jr., 59, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, after a battle with cancer. He was a native of Cullman, former resident of Fairhope and a resident of Okaloosa County, Fla., for the past 17 years. He was raised in Fairhope and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope. He was also a life member of the Elks Lodge in Fairhope. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Calvert of Holt, Fla.; two sons, Michael Calvert and Rivers Calvert, and two daughters, Katherine Johnson and Brandy Walker, all of Fairhope; a step-daughter, Rhonda Gay Logan of Northport, Ala.; three brothers, Ben Carr and Jonathan Carr, both of Holt, and Newman Hall of Natchez, Miss.; two sisters, Diane Holden of Robertsdale and Traci Carr of Holt; and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Fairhope Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Henry officiating. The family requests live potted plants, or suggests that memorials be made to Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, or to the Joe Lee Griffith Hope Lodge, American Cancer Society, Birmingham.
