Obituary Virginia Dell Frierson was born Virginia Dell Swindle in Tuscola, Texas on December 28, 1928. Her parents, William Barrymore Swindle and Effie Pearl Swindle, lived on a small cotton farm in the small town of Tuscola, Texas, although they had lived originally in Tennessee. Virginia was the fourth child out of six children who were raised on this Tuscola farm. At the age of 93, Virginia outlived both of her parents and all her other siblings, William "Dub" Swindle, Pearl "Poe" Dickson, Geneva Attaway, and the twins, Ed and Ted Swindle. Virginia, or "Dell", as her family lovingly named her, told many stories about growing up on this cotton farm during the Great Depression and how many days included hours of school followed by hours of picking cotton. Her family was a close-knit group that helped each other during the difficult times of this era. Virginia attended Jim Ned High School in Tuscola and graduated in 1946. It was around this time that she was introduced to Forrest Edward Frierson whose parents both worked at her high school. They fell in love and married on June 14, 1947. Their marriage was blessed with 44 wonderful years of commitment. Virginia was a faithful, devoted wife to Forrest until his death in August of 1991. Together, they had three children, Robert Davey Frierson of Royse City, Texas, Randall Lynn Frierson of Garland, Texas, and Jerenda Gale Cox of Forney, Texas. Virginia held a few jobs during her lifetime. She was a worker at Camp Barkley in Abilene, Texas during World War II, later she was self-employed as an embroidery designer in her home, and finally she served as a postal clerk for the United States Postal Service. Virginia's favorite job, however, was being a stay at home mother and wife. She loved cooking and caring for her family, and always making sure they were well taken care of. When her husband became legally blind, Virginia devoted her time to his care, making sure to look after his health and well-being. Once her husband passed away, Virginia retired from the postal service. She had several hobbies, such as reading, traveling, gardening, and going to church. Virginia came to know Christ at a Billy Graham crusade while in high school. Both Virginia and her husband loved attending church and being involved in church activities. They were members of Orchard Hills Baptist Church of Garland, Texas for many years, but changed their membership to First Baptist of Garland, Texas later in their lives. Virginia's favorite book to read was the Bible. She could recite many Bible verses, and she was a source of strength to her kids when they went through their own trials. Virginia passed away on December 30, 2021, just a couple of days after her 93rd birthday. She passed away of natural causes after a decade-long battle with dementia. In her final years, Virginia kept her faith and committed to her family. Virginia is survived by her three children, Robert Davey Frierson and his wife, Marilyn, Randall Lynn Frierson and his wife, Alice, as well as Jerenda Cox and her husband, Dale. She was also blessed with many grandchildren, including Sheri Frierson, Forrest Frierson II, Tiffany West, Eric Frierson, Zachary Cox, and Kaitlyn Cox. Moreover, she was also blessed with numerous great grandchildren, including Alyssa Harris, Trey Frierson, Campbell Frierson, Hunter Hopkins, Taylea West, Cody Hopkins and Finley Frierson. Visitation for Virginia Frierson will be held on Friday, January 7th at 12 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Garland, Texas. The funeral will take place at 1 pm thereafter. The burial will be held at Restland Cemetery. Virginia's family takes comfort in knowing that their mother / grandmother is rejoicing in Heaven alongside her Lord and Savior. She has been made whole again and has been reunited with her beloved husband. 1 Corinthians 15: 55-57 "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
