Burial Date: November 5, 2020 at 12:00 PM ******************************************* ATTAWAY, Geneva M.  (OBITUARY) Geneva M. Attaway (nee Swindle) ,94, of Crest Hill, IL and previously of Elwood, IL passed away  November 2, 2020 at 2:12 PM at Sunny Hill Nursing Home in Joliet, IL.   Born  May 31, 1926 in Cedar Gap, Texas,  she was  the daughter of Effie Pearl (Roberts) Swindle and Cason Berryman Swindle.  She graduated in 1943 from Jim Ned High School, Tuscola, TX.    She met her husband, George Attaway, at Camp  Barkley  near Abilene, Texas during WW II.    After the war they moved to Illinois where Geneva worked for the Secretary of State License Facility in Joliet and Tyler Grain Co.   She was a member of the Elwood Community Church and Elwood / Jackson History Club. Geneva is survived by one daughter, Shirley (Terry) Weidemann of Elwood, IL and two sons,  Jerry (Mary Beth)  of Morris, IL,  and George (Laura) of Huntley IL.   Three grandchildren, Jeremy  Attaway (Tracy), Heather  Bryant (Matthew), and Justin Attaway (Dana).  Also one sister, Virginia Frierson (the late Forrest) of Garland, Texas,  and numerous great  grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, George (1987), her parents, 3 brothers, William C. (Mildred), Ted (Marie), and Ed (Gladys), and one sister, Pearl (Loyce W.) Dickson. Funeral service for Geneva will be Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home in Manhattan, Illinois.  A memorial visitation will be the same day from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Private burial will follow at Brown Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Memorials in Geneva's name to the Elwood Community Church, 101 S. Chicago St., Elwood, IL 60421 or Brown Cemetery, 19508 W.
