Bio

Funeral services for Dreahnella Young, age 85, of Sulphur Bluff, will be held at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2007. Rev. Ron Robinson will officiate. Interment will follow services at Connor Cemetery, with Fred Young, Billy Cummings, Chad Young, Dusty Young, Skip Humphrey, Aaron Sanders, Jason Barnett, and Bo Buckland serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dakota Young, Colton Cummings, Joshua Young, Forrest Young, Darrell Crocker, and Billy Lundy. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the funeral home. Mrs. Young passed away on Tuesday evening, October 9, 2007, at her residence. She was born in Celeste, on June 28, 1922, the daughter of Eddie Alvin and Estelle Sim Thorp. She married A.C. "Bud" Young, at Kingston, on June 28, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1991. Mrs. Young was co-owner of A.C. Young's Grocery Store in Flora. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dike. Survivors include: a daughter, Shirley Reynolds, of Dike; two sons, Allen Young of Lewisville and Gary Young of Sulphur Bluff; a sister, Frances Remediz of Balch Springs; three brothers, Jerry Thorp of Santa Fe, Archie Thorp of Carrolton, and Willie Thorp of Garland; granchildren, Fred and Chad Young, Billy Cummings, Sirilda Lundy, Elisha Humphrey, Olivia Barnett, Jamie Sanders, Dusty Young, and Amy Buckland; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nell Medina; and a grandson, Tony Young. Memorials may be made to the Cypress Basin Hospice, First Baptist Church of Dike, and/or Conner Cemetery. Arrangements are with Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
