Bio

Faye (Kobes) Phillips October 12, 1943 – October 29, 2021 Faye Marie Phillips, 78, of Lincoln, died on October 29, 2021 at her home in Lincoln. Faye was born October 12, 1943, to Lumir and Agnes (Belohlavy) Kobes on the Kobes homestead west of Wilber. After the family moved to Crete, Faye began her education in the Crete school system graduating in 1963. Married immediately after graduating, she soon had a family that included three stair-step children. After becoming a single parent, raising her children was number one priority. Always strong and independent, while raising her family and working full time, she was able to reach her goal of a college education graduating from UNL with a teaching degree. Because money was tight, she turned down a teaching position to work in a better paying job at the post office in Lincoln where she worked over 30 years until retirement. Her family was always her life and she established many traditions that her children continue to this day. She leaves to mourn her: daughter Chris (Steve) Walbridge, son Rick (Stacey), and daughter Cindy (Gordon) Marshalek, 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters Jenny Snider and Vicky Kobes, brother Allen (Shirley) Kobes, uncle and aunt Steve and June Belohlavy, and 8 nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves a host of lifelong and more recent friends from school, the post office, and Aging Partners. A family service will be held at a later date. Her remains will be interred in the family plot at the Wilber Czech Cemetery just down the road from her birth home.
