Bio

Jenny Ann (Kobes) Long-Snider, 87 of McAlester died July 28, 2022 in Krebs at her residence. The family will greet visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at the First Church of the Nazarene officiated by Rev. J.T. Carnell and Rev. Clifford Joines. Burial will follow in Crowder Cemetery, Crowder. Pallbearers will be Chris Tadlock, Eric Long, Cody Long, Ryan Long, Gage Long and Charles Rowell. Honorary pallbearers will be, Matthew Smith, Bryan Smith, Olen Free, Tim Brown, members of the Harrison Powers Post #79 American Legion and her Sunday school classmates. Jenny Ann was born to Frank Lumir and Agnes (Belohlavy) Kobes on June 4, 1935 in Wilber, Nebraska. She was raised in Wilber and Crete, Nebraska. She met and married Estes E. Long in 1954 in Lincoln, Nebraska and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was a military wife of the year in Alaska. Jenny later married Robert Snider in 1992 and he preceded her in death. Jenny was an honorary lifetime member of the Harrison Powers Post #79 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the PTA, a member of the HCE club and a member of the First Nazarene Church. Jenny worked as the head cook for McAlester Senior Citizens Center. She was known to her family and friends as the world's best bread baker and for cooking their favorite Czech foods. She was a great cook and many people enjoyed the fruits of her labor. Jenny was a volunteer her adult life in the community, especially for children and the church. Family was an essential part of her life. She loved and was loved by her family. Jenny is survived by her daughters, Catherine Tadlock of McAlester, Edie Smith and husband, Doyle of Indianola; sons, Gene Long and Linda Merrick of McAlester, Steve Long and wife, Cindi of Broken Arrow, Randy Long and wife, Candis of Fulton, Illinois, Larry Long and wife, Delina of McAlester; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren; brother, Allen Kobes and wife, Shirley of Lincoln, Nebraska; sister, Vicky Kobes of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Ellis Haney, Lavon Long both of Arkansas City, Kansas; special friend and caretaker, Nancy Paxton; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes Kobes; husbands, Estes Long and Robert Snider; son, Johnny Long; son-in-law, Ed Tadlock; grandsons, Matthew Smith and Bryan Smith; brother, Larry L. Kobes; and a sister, Faye Phillips.
