Jerry A. Hajek, 92 of Victoria, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Jerry was born on January 27, 1929 in Shiner, Texas to Anton and Janie Hajek. He proudly served his county as a U.S. Marine during World War II and the Korean Conflict. During his civilian years, Jerry was a mechanical engineer for DuPont retiring after many years. He was active at Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as an usher, a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the Order of St. Gregory. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Groth Hajek; daughter, Diana Beran (Douglas) of Victoria; sons, Gary Hajek (Danna) of Taft, Jerry A. Hajek, Jr. (Bernadette) of Sedona, AR; three grandchildren: Sarah Demmer (Jason), William Scott Harkey (Kaitlin), David Hajek (Jessica Rosalez) and six great-grandchildren, Kaylie Demmer, Jack Demmer, Bobby Hajek, James Hajek, Logan Hajek and Kathryn Mericle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jerry A. Hajek III, Christopher Mericle; brothers, Eugene Hajek, Benjamin Hajek and Johnny Hajek and one infant sister, Irene. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church with a rosary to be recited at 1:30 pm with the Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council. Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
