Helen Lula Palmer, daughter of John and Margaret Palmer, was born July 30, 1911, at Van Wert, Iowa and departed this life at the Decatur County Hospital, July 20, 1938, at the age of 26 years, 11 months, and 20 days. She died from gangrene. She spent her girlhood days around Van Wert, except three years in South Dakota. She was united in marriage to Elba Kelly of Decatur, Iowa on April 16, 1929. To this union was born three children, Darlene, Donald, and Ronald Dean. She was a firm believer of God and of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving wife and mother, her first thought being for her home and loved ones. She bore her suffering patiently. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and children, a father John Palmer of Murray, two sisters, Mrs. Earl Moran of Van Wert, Mrs. Richard Kelly of Terre Haute, three brothers, Melvin, and Elvin Palmer of Van Wert and Paul Palmer of Murray, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Assembly of God church at Van Wert, conducted by the pastor, L. E. Brown. Interment was in the Van Wert cemetery.
