LAST RITES HERE FOR EMIL SKALA Funeral services for Emil Skala were held Saturday at 1:30 P. M. at the Humlicek Mortuary here, and at 2:00 P. M. at the Bohemian National chapel Rev Filipi of the Presbyterian church of Clarkson conducted services. A mixed chorus, Mrs. Fred Litz Mrs. Frank Blankenau, Joseph Bicak Jr. and G. J. Borgmeyer accompanied by Vrela Wagner sang, In the Garden, No Night There" and Rock of Ages. Burial was in the Bohemian National Cemetery with grand sons of the deceased as pallbearers. Mr. Skala who lived here for over 32 years passed away Wednesday, June 14, in St Mary's Hospital at Columbus after an illness of long duration. He was a hospital patient for two years. Emil Skala was born Nov. 11th. 1870 to Ignac and Anna Skala on a farm in Cuming county near West Point. His boyhood was spent on a farm north of Dodge He was married to Anna Karnik at West Point in July 1805. For a short time they lived in Howells where he conducted a dray business. They returned to the farm and continued in that profession until he retired and moved to Dodge. Mrs. Skala passed away on April 19, 1944. He then lived with his daughter and son, until his illness. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Joe Tichota, Orchard; Mrs. James Slegl, Schuyler; Mrs. Joe Tresnak, Howells; Mrs. Adolph Haba, Bruno; son Leon, Howells; a sister, Mrs. Ann Kempf, Schuyler; 13 grand-children and seven great grand children. Many nieces and nephews also survive. A large -number of out of town friends and relatives attended the services.
