Bio
Son of John & Barbara (Babel) Preister. He graduated from St. Francis High School in May, 1943. Loren was very proud to have been on the winning state basketball teams for St. Francis in 1941 and 1943. He entered the US Navy on September 15, 1943 and was on a gunnery crew on a Merchant Ship delivering supplies to the Pacific Islands and Australia. He was discharged on March 8, 1946 as a Seaman First Class. He received the Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. After returning from the service, Loren married Clarice Fuchs on May 25, 1949. He farmed and began working for the US Postal Service. He was a Clerk and a Rural Mail Carrier for more than 38 years. Loren was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ava. Maria Council 1794 of Humphrey and the VFW Post 7225 of Humphrey. He was also a member of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and St. Francis Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
