Roland “Rollie” J. Preister, 87 years, of Fremont, NE passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. He was born in Humphrey, NE on February 4, 1931 to John and Barbara (Babel) Preister. Rollie was a 1948 graduate of St Francis High School at Humphrey. He joined the United States Air Force and served from December 1951 to December 1955. He married Janice Pfeifer on June 27, 1959 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont, NE. They resided in Omaha, Overland Park, KS, Rapid City, SD, Bismarck, ND, and then returned to the Fremont area. He was employed by AT & T for 35 years and retired as a supervisor in 1989. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont. Rollie is survived by his wife Janice of Papillion; sons, Doug (Kathleen) Preister, Sr. of Ft. Calhoun, NE, Dale (Debbie) Preister of Omaha, NE, Ken (Christy) Preister of Fremont, NE, Wayne (Melissa) Preister of Ft. Calhoun, NE; daughters, Pam (Dave) Erixon of Omaha, NE and Laura (Dave) Weldon of Wichita, KS; sisters, Lois Koelzer and Oda Barry both of Omaha, NE; and 24 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Milton, Loren, Terry, and Norman Preister; sister, Carlene Vellutini; and one grandson. Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Fremont, NE. Father Walter Nolte will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Military honors conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.
