Bio

James C. Heger of Weimar, Texas entered his eternal place of resting on Sunday, July 4, 2021. The youngest of five children, James was born to John F. Heger and Ida Gold Heger on September 19, 1941 in Weimar, Texas. He attended St. Michael Catholic School, Weimar High School and the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. James married the love of his life, Molly Kasper Heger, on August 10, 1963. After traveling for work and living the city life, James and Molly made Weimar their forever home, raising two children, Jimmy and Melanie. Together, the family enjoyed saltwater fishing, outdoor campouts, bench rest shooting events and time spent at home with family and friends. Affectionately known as "Happa" by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, James beamed with pride over his grandkids, Cole, McCall, Greyson, Houston, Branson and Evlynn. He loved being a grandfather. He loved sharing stories of the past with them. He loved watching them grow into the young men that they are today. He loved his "greats", their spunky personalities and the teasing races to the candy dish. James was a man of God. He lived his life for Jesus Christ, always putting God, his family and his country first. He was a simple man who loved to watch the martins fly, shoot a few rounds of golf and build handmade kayaks for his grandchildren. James is survived by his wife of 57 years, Molly; son Jimmy and wife Stacy; daughter Melanie and husband Roy; grandchildren Cole Ulrich, McCall Ulrich and wife Vanessa, Greyson Ulrich and Houston Heger; great grandchildren Branson and Evlynn Ulrich; brother George Heger and wife Gail; sisters Patricia Zatopek and husband Harvey and Jane Untermeyer and husband Joe. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Heger and his brother, John H. Heger. Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar, Texas and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Rosary will be Thursday at 7:00 PM.
