August E. Bartosh, 84, passed away on June 19, 2021. Visitation will be on Friday, June 25, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Corley Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. in the Magnolia Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. August was born October 21, 1936, in Abbott, Texas, to the late August V. and Rosie Barbara Mynar Bartosh. His mother worked as an electronic assembler. Growing up as the middle child of the family with his sister Rosa and his brother Ernest, August lived in West, Texas, until age six, when the family moved to Fort Worth. Their Czech heritage was very important to the Bartosh family. August and his wife, Marlene Turner, were married in 1969, each bringing three children from a previous marriage. A real family man, August's children Patricia Bell, David Bartosh, and August E Bartosh, Jr. as well as Marlene's children Cynthia J Cavender, Melinda J Wood, and Rudy Johnson, Jr. all knew they were loved. They knew they could always count on him to lend a hand. He taught them that hard work would help them to achieve what they want from life. August was a very hard worker. After serving our country for a year in the U.S. Army during the Berlin crisis, he worked in maintenance for Texas Utilities for 37 years. Even after retiring, August stayed busy with his involvement in community activities, including the American Legion Post 22, Angels of Corsicana, neighborhood watch, and his local homeowners' association. A very dependable man, he was always willing to help a neighbor in need. In his free time, August enjoyed going fishing and raising his vegetable garden. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and friends. His wonderful sense of humor will be deeply missed. August was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene T Bartosh; his step-daughter, Cindy J Cavender; and daughter-in-law, Lory Bartosh. Survivors include his children: Patricia R. Bell and her husband, Raymond, David L Bartosh, and August E. Bartosh/Sonny Jr. "Luke"; his stepchildren, Melinda J. Wood and her husband, Mike, and Rudy Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Patrice; grandchildren: Brandy R. Horne, Raymond C. Bell, Jr., Jessica Bartosh, Ryan Bartosh, Danielle Casper, Ellen Cavender (Joel Cottongim), Will Cavender, Marlene Stanley and her husband, Terry, Walt Wood, Jacob Johnson, and Zachary Johnson; as well as numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. b5
