Published in The Alabama Courier, Athens, Alabama, Thursday, July 6, 1944 . Funeral services for Ed Pitts, 53, who died Sunday at his home at Elkmont Route two, were conducted at the Antioch Cemetery at 11 o'clock Monday morning by Rev. Stovall. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery, McConnell directing. Mr. Pitts had been an invalid for four or five years. He was a member of the Baptist church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Pitts; six daughters, Mrs. Johnny Martin, Mrs. Odis Greenfield, Mrs. James Turner, Misses Emma, Ruth and Sally Pitts; one son, Ed Pitts Jr., all of that community.
