HARDIN - Leona Margherita Kaiser, 93, of Hardin, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, in the Heritage Acres Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 14, 1910, in Ochiltree, Texas, a daughter of George and Mary Brown Hibnes. She grew up and received her education in Nebraska. Leona married Chester Kaiser on Sept. 3, 1929, in Lake of the Andes, S.D. The couple made their home in Nebraska, before moving to Montana in 1938. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. When her husband worked for the Hardin Cemetery, she was the prime caretaker of all flower areas within the cemetery. She loved to embroidery and quilt, but was known as the family historian, caretaker and baby sitter. Her parents; husband, Chet; son, Donald; two sisters and four brothers preceded Leona in death. Survivors include her daughter, Arlene (Ron) Peterson of Billings; two sons, Gary (Verlene) Kaiser of Idaho and Richard (Deanna) Kaiser of Illinois; three sisters, Doris Cronk, Evelyn Johnson and Mildred Brenneman of Nebraska; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
