John Hibnes Sr. Services for John Leroy Hibnes Sr., 69, of Nampa, who died Tuesday, Oct. 25, at home as a result of a mobile home fire, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, by Pastor Edwin Green of the Assembly of God Church, Wilder. Interment will follow at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. He was born Feb. 3, 1914, at Ochiltree County, Texas, to George and Mary Frances Hibnes. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to Nebraska, where he was reared and educated. He married Marjorie Harris on Dec. 13, 1936, at Lake Andes, S.D. They had resided in Iowa and Nebraska before moving to Hardin, Mont., in 1946. They later moved to Idaho in 1953. Mrs. Hibnes died on July 13. 1967. Before retiring, he was a heavy equipment operator and had been employed by Charles Gray, Inc. Land Leveling. Some of his work projects included the Vallivue High School, Mercy Medical Center, and the new Boise Airport. He is survived by one son, John L. Hibnes Jr. of Nampa; one daughter, Kaylen McAbee of Greenleaf; two brothers; six sisters; six grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers.
