His obituary reads: Funeral services fro Benjamin Franklin Petit were held November 30, at the Rhoad's Funeral Chapel in Sargent. The Rev. Leslie North officiated. Music was provided by Marlaee North and Linda Seifried, singing, accompanied by Dorothy Pointer at the organ. Pallbearers were Glenn Cooper, Harold Pointer, Leonard Amos, Robert Cooper, Gerald Amos and Fred Rush. Burial was in the Douglas Grove Cemetery in Comstock. Benjamin Franklin Petit was born in Waterloo, Nebraska, March 13, 1883 to James and Martha (Fuller) Petit. He died at the Sargent Nursing Home November 27, at the age of 92 years, eight months and 14 days. His family moved to Custer County when he was 3-years-old. He grew to manhood on a farm near Comstock. He was married to Nona Mae Bruner on June 29, 1904 in Taylor. Five sons and two daughters were born to this union. One son died in infancy. The major part of Ben's life was spent farming, dairying and helping at the Sargent Community Sale Barn. He loved to hunt and fish, enjoying these activities whenever he could. His wife, Nona, died December 17, 1952. The remainder of his life Ben lived with his son, Bud. His parents, wife, four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. He is survived by six children, Carl of West Point, Nebraska, Mrs. Murl (Fern) Amos of Sargent, Mrs. Clifford (Ethel) Carr of Denver, John of Pierce, South Dakota, Lonzo (Bud) of Sargent and Ralph of Urhing, Nebraska, two sisters, Gussie Eggers of Missoula, Montana and Nancy Turnbull of Caldwell, Idaho; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
