The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), October 11, 1984, p. 1B, col. 2 & 3 Mary Pabian funeral services conducted at Bruno Saturday Funeral services for Mary Pabian, 82, of Bruno were held Saturday morning, Oct. 6, from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bruno with the Rev. Daniel Pohl officiating. Mrs. Pabian died Oct. 3 at David Place following a lengthy illness. Music was by St. Anthony’s Church choir and Mrs. Estella Miratsky, organist. Wilfred Kozisek was lector. Pallbearers were Emanuel Shavlik, Darrell Pabian, Daniel Pabian, Adolph Shavlik, Donald Pabian, and Edmund Havlovic. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cedar Hill Cemetery at Morse Bluff. Mary Pabian, the daughter of Jacob and Francis Shavlik, was born March 20, 1902, at Linwood. She attended school in Linwood, and at Midland College in Fremont. On Sept. 28, 1926, she was united in marriage to Ernest Pabian of Prague at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Abie. Three sons were born to this union. She and her husband lived on a farm until their retirement in 1952 when they moved to Bruno. She spent the last two years in residence at David Place. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish and was active in various church organizations. She is survived by two sons, Bernard of Bruno and Gilbert of Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Edward Shavlik; and two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Riha and Mrs. Helen Wirth, all of Omaha; three grandchildren, Donald and Darrell Pabian of Bruno and David Pabian of Phoenix, Ariz. Her parents, her husband, Ernest, and an infant son, Marion, preceded her in death. Gilbert Pabian of Phoenix, Ariz., was among those who came from a distance to attend the services.
