Moses Marion Carroll was born February 14, 1843, in Saline County Arkansas. His Parents are Thomas William Carroll and Mary McClelland. Moses was the last child born in Arkansas. Sometime between 1843-1847 the Carroll family moved to Shelby County, Texas. On May 5, 1862 Moses enlisted as a Private, in Company H, 11th Texas Infantry, (Better known as Robert's Regiment). Moses served until the close of the war. Moses married Nancy P. Morrison October 26, 1865. Their children are. 1.) James P. Carroll, Aug 20, 1866 - July 6, 1880 2.) David Carroll, Mar 2, 1869 - July 26, 1892 3.) M. Carroll (Son), Feb 17, 1871 - July 22, 1871 4.) Mary "Mollie" Carroll, Aug 29, 1873 - Oct 15, 1964 married 1st Robert Brooks Ballard and 2nd Hugh Beck 5.) Moses Marion Carroll Jr., Sept 17, 1875 - Feb 13, 1937 married Anna Minerva LaGrone 6.) Lillie Jane Carroll, Apr 18, 1877 - May 13, 1963 married Andrew Everett Henry 7.) Elizabeth "Lizzie" P. Carroll, June 25, 1879 - June 27, 1954 married James Sidney Ellis 8.) Jessie Carroll (Daughter), Feb 14, 1891 - Apr 13, 1892 Moses wife Nancy died May 24, 1891, a little over 3 months after the birth of their last child. Moses 2nd wife is Sarah Louise Booth Ballard. They are listed as Husband and Wife by the 1900 U.S. Census. Moses died February 23, 1910 at the age of 67. He primarily worked as a Farmer, however also worked for the Pickering Lumber Company.
