Obituary for Delilah's husband, William Allen Paul, appeared in The Champion newspaper, Center, Texas, on August 20, 1930. Mr. Paul died in California on August 12, 1930, and was buried there. 'WILLIAM ALLEN PAUL DIES. Born in Macon, Georgia, August 6, 1842, William Allen Paul came to Texas at the age of 9 with his father, Charles A. Paul, who settled in the eastern part of Shelby county near the Sabine River in the community now known as Paul's Store....He was in Company E, Third Regiment, under command of Captain Daniel McDonald Short....After the war Mr. Paul returned to his home and was married later to Mrs. Deliah [sic] Carroll Booth. To this union six children were born: Minor F. and Elta, both of who passed away in infancy. Robert Allen. James William. Michael Moses, now deceased, and Charles Thomas. Mr. Paul had a large plantation and general store in the community now bearing his name, where he established the post office more than forty years ago. Left a widower about the time his children were all grown, he married Miss Ezzie McClellan, also a resident of Shelby county...."
