Bio

Floyd Moses Childs, 84, was born September 14th, 1933, to Russell Clay Childs and Clara Mae (Cornaby) Childs, in Springville, Utah. He passed away November 11th, 2017. Floyd learned to work at a young age on the small dairy farm his family owned and he taught these values to his children and grandchildren. As a young man he was active in school sports and later served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 14th, 1956 he married Judy Bennett in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and together they were th eloving parents of two children, Kevin and Bonnie. He attended technical college and in 1963 he, along with several partners, started United Precision Machine and Engineering Company, a successful machining business. He retired in 2001. Floyd enjoyed visits from his children and grandchildren. He had a great love of cars and could usually be found polishing one of them. He enjoyed traveling, camping, riding 3 wheelers (later his golf cart), fixing his Farmall tractor and was a passionate supporter of BYU sports. Throughout his life Floyd was an active member of the LDS faith and served faithfully in a variety of callings. Floyd is survived by a son Keven (Jen) Childs, and a daughter Bonnie (Kevin) Mackay, as well as 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Judy Bennett Childs, brothers Ardeen, Fred, Dale, and Devere, and sisters Delores (Crandall) and Carolee (Newman). Funeral services were held on Friday, November 17th 2017 at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. Internment , Larken Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
