George Simmons, 81, entered peacefully into rest on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at his home in Rosepine, Louisiana. George was born to Elvin Simmons and Juanita Dunwoodie Simmons on February 22, 1939, in Rosepine, Louisiana. George was a heavy equipment operator working at Fort Polk, Louisiana until he retired. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. George loved spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are daughter, LuLu Kubena and husband Gerard of El Campo, TX; daughter-in-law, Linda Simmons of DeRidder, LA; sister, Rita Simmons Viera of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Earl Wayne Simmons, Jr., Justin Elvin Simmons and wife Kimberlee, Amanda Kubena, Brandy Kubena; nine great grandchildren, Devon, Kasen, Jaxstin, Jacee, Brooklyn, Matthew, Kyle, Taylor and Austin. Preceded in death by his wife, Doris Simmons; father, Elvin Simmons, mother, Juanita D. Simmons; and son, Earl Simmons. Those honored to serve as pallbearer are Gerard Kubena, Justin Simmons, Billy Berry, Jayson Gray, T. J. Johnson and Caleb Simmons.
