'''''''''''''''''''' The Banner-Press (David City, Nebr.), April 30, 1998, p. 5B, col. 3 Mildred Shonka HENDERSON, NEV. – Mildred Shonka, 94, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of California, died Thursday, April 16, 1998. Mrs. Shonka was born Nov. 13, 1903, in Brainard to Joseph F. and Anna E. (Novacek) Sypal. She married Jerry Shonka. Survivors include three daughters, Edith Scott and Judy Cole, both of Henderson, and Theresa Valerie of Whittier, Calif.; one son, Hal of Whittier; one sister, Ann Kudlacek of Omaha; one brother, Valerian Sypal of Brainard; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, daughter-in-law, and grandson, Richard and Angelyn (Wesely) Shonka and Richard Jr., who all died in a car accident in 1964; grandson, Michael Valerie; three brothers, Adolph, Joeph, and Milo Sypal; and four sisters, Rose Coufal, Agnes Hotovy, Helen Hamsa, and Marie Pleskac. Services were held Saturday, April 25, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Burial was in Los Angeles.
