Rosary for Peter Jay Malek, 76, is set for 6 p.m. today at St. Mary's Presentation Catholic Church in Deer Park. Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, Rev. Fr. E.F. Caffrey, Celebrant. Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Malek, who died Friday, was born in Spalding, Nebraska. He was a ripsaw feeder at Deer Park Pine Industries for 22 years. He retired in the early 1970s. Mr. Malek was a member of the Catholic Church and the Woodworkers Union of America. He was preceded by a son, David Malek, in 1988. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Virginia Malek; two sons, Stan Lane of Woodlake, California, and Frank Malek; four daughters, Geraldine Davis of Puyallup, Washington, Phyllis Lunzer of Spokane, Marlene Daubel of Chattaroy and Vicki Wells of Black River, New York; five brothers, Ted Malek of Grand Island, Nebraska, Max Malek of Florence, Montana, Martin Malek of Juliet, Illinois, Joe Malek of Loon Lake, Washington, and his twin brother, Paul Malek of Tampa, Florida; five sisters, Wanda Snyder, Angie Oller, Lorene Blancher and Eva Roberts, all of Spokane, and JoAnne Demmon of Spring Valley, California; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.. —Obituary from The Spokesman-Review; Wednesday, January 3, 1996.
