Edward J. Sladecek, 82, of Granger, died Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at his residence. Rosary services will be Thursday at 7 PM at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of Mass will be Friday, 10 AM at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Edward John Sladecek was born in Granger, Texas, April 10, 1920 to Edward C. and Regina (Piela) Sladecek. He lived all his life in Granger. Edward was a mechanic at the Sladecek Garage in Granger. He also served in W.W.II in the Army Air Force, with his tour of duty in the European Theater. Edward was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodious Catholic Church, KJT # 28, Knights of Columbus Council #4457 and SPJST Lodge #20. He also was a retired member of the Granger Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the American Legion of Granger and the VFW of Circleville. Edward married Angeline Cmerek on March 1, 1949. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Victor and Otto. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Angeline of Granger, sister, Evelyn Pekar and husband Frank of Granger and several nieces and nephews.
