Husband of Nellie Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent October, 1997 RAVENNA--Sherman W. Stickney, 88, of Ravenna died Friday, Oct. 17, 1997, at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Ravenna with the Rev. Arnold Kramer officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Ravenna. (Other funeral arrangements omitted here) Mr. Stickney was born on July 22, 1909, in Loup City to William and Iva (Hoadley) Stickney. He attended school in Poole and Ravenna. He married Nellie Zouha in Julesburg, Colo. in 1928. They lived in Big Springs, Spokane, Wash., and Priest River, Idaho, before settling on a ranch near Poole and Ravenna in 1936. He retired in 1973. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and excellent silversmith. He enjoyed years of rock hunting and retirement in Arizona during the winter. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ravenna; a 42-year member of the Ravenna Masonic Lodge and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his wife; two grandsons, six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Vera Sisson of Greenfield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ruby (Mrs. Bill) Pokorney; two grandsons; six brothers and six sisters.
