Bio

Albert Joe Hyzak, 92, went peacefully to his eternal home on Friday, June 8, 2001. He was surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Granger. Rosary will be recited 7:00 PM, Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Celebration of Mass will be 10:30 AM, Monday at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger. Albert was born on April 20, 1909 to John and Maria (Hroudny) Hyzak in Granger. He was a lifelong resident of Granger. On February 10, 1931, he married Regina Dykowski at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. On October 10, 1936 he opened his own business, Granger Hardware & Tin Shop. He owned and operated the business until the store's closing on August 29, 1989. Albert then continued to operate a smaller shop, Albert's Repair & Supply, behind his residence, until his death. He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church and the Granger Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, during which time he was truck foreman, fire chief, city inspector and city fire marshal. He was honored as a Lifetime Captain of the Granger Fire Department. He was also a member of the K.J.T. #18, Catholic Workman #135 (KD) and the Knights of Columbus Council #4457. Albert was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was well known in Williamson County and was always there to serve His Lord and the whole community. His favorite pastime was playing tarocks and dominoes with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Regina in July, 1989; a son, Albert Jr. (Sonnie) in February, 1990; one sister, Mary Rozypal and three brothers, Joe, Johnnie, and Wesley Hyzak. His survivors include seven daughters, Mary Lee Gorubec of Granger, Sister Thadine Hyzak of LaGrange, Marjorie Meier of Taylor, Barbara Kolinek and husband, W.C. of Pflugerville, Sister Barbara Lynn Hyzak of San Antonio, Paula Hajda and husband, Tim of Taylor and Rita George of Round Rock; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Hyzak of Taylor; one brother, Louis Hyzak of Georgetown; four sisters, Adela Kacer of Caldwell, Sister Casilda Hyzak of San Antonio, Theresa Mazoch of Corpus Christi, Agnes Hyzak of San Antonio; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Gorubec, Glenn Hyzak, Danny Hyzak, Bryan Hajda, Charles Kolinek, Eric Lally, Larry Kolinek, and Christopher George. Honorary pallbearers are his great-grandsons, Jeffrey Stefek, Kyle Rydell, Ryan Wooldridge, Glenn Michael Hyzak, Charles Brown III, Justin Hyzak, Jordan Stefek, Daniel Hyzak, Denton Gerick and Justin Kolinek.
