Sylvia Mae McPeek, 89, of Mount Gilead died August 17, 2007 at the Morrow County Hospital. She was born on December 6, 1917 in Morrow County, near Pulaskiville, the daughter of the late Murl and Hazel J. (Coykendall) West. Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Morrow County and worked for HPM as a custodian for 23 years until her retirement in 1977. She went on to work at the Copper Kettle for a few years. She was a good hearted woman who would tell you how it is. You always knew where you stood with Sylvia. Very outgoing Sylvia spent her free time at flea markets; whether it was looking for a great deal or managing one of the local markets in Galion she loved being part of a good bargain. She would also travel with her son to listen to him sing Karaoke. Sylvia was a member of the Caledonia American Legion Post #401. She will be missed by her four sons Ronnie E. of Mount Gilead, Ohio; Gerald L (Jennifer) and Terry L. both of Galion, Ohio, and Jerry W. (Cheryl Taylor) of Wakeman, Ohio; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother George W. West of Marion, Ohio, and a sister Shirley Jean (Don) Bishop of Williamsport, Ohio. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Raymond M. West and a sister Helen V. McPeek.
