Bio
Gardinia A. Konarek left this earthly life on Saturday, May 31, 2003 at the age of 80 years old. Prayer service will be 7 PM, Monday at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Hejl officiating. Burial followed at Taylor City Cemetery. Gardinia A. Konarek was born in Granger, Texas on July 11, 1922 to Joe and Millie (Volcik) Prcin. She was a lifetime resident of Taylor. Gardinia was a homemaker and also worked for J.C. Penny for many years. Her favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, and camping with her family. Many special memories were made sitting in Leon and Gardinia's backyard laughing and sharing stories of their lifetime. Gardinia was a member of the Taylor Brethren Church, which she attended regularly before her sickness during her later years. She was also a member of Christian Sisters, V.F.W. Auxiliary, the Taylor Welcoming Club, the S.P.J.S.T., and a honorary member of the Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Gardinia was considered an angel by all who knew her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, godmother, as well as a friend to everyone she met. Gardinia's love of life was her only grandson Adam, who called her Momo. Among those who mourn her passing include her son, Glenn Konarek and wife, Kathy of Taylor; one special grandson, Adam Ray Konarek of Taylor two brothers, Victor Prcin of Belton and August Prcin and wife, Wiladean of Taylor; four sisters, Lydia Fuessel and husband Carl, Evelyn Leshikar and husband, Hudson, Dorothy Zycha and husband, Johnnie, and Sybil Schrader and husband, Donald all of Taylor. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years Leon Konarek, her parents, and one brother, Daniel Prcin. Pallbearers will be five nephews and one special grandson, Victor Prcin Jr. of Waxahachie, Garrey Prcin of Waxahachie, Kenneth Prcin of Lufkin, John Southerland of Belton, Lonnie Zycha of Taylor, and Adam Konarek of Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers are nephew, Rod Schrader of Taylor and niece, Barbara Leshikar of Las Vegas. The family of Gardinia would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers, friends and family that came by, and to Rev. James Hejl for his emotional and spiritual support.
