August J. Prcin, 83, of Taylor passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Granger Villa. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Friday, July 27, 2007 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service will be 2 PM, Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Providence Funeral Home with Rev. James Hejl officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. August was born on January 9, 1924 to Joseph and Emilie (Volcik) Prcin in Granger. He was baptized and confirmed at the Czech-Moravian Brethren Church in Granger, and later attended school at Friendship, Texas. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army, and fought on various islands in the Pacific Theater of Operations during WW II. August was awarded several medals, including four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. On January 11, 1947, he was married to Willadeen Wernli of Taylor. He worked for Texas Power and Light Company for over 40 years, retiring as crew foreman in 1986. August is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gardenia Konarek; a brother Daniel Prcin and grandson Paxton Prcin. He will be missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Willadeen Prcin of Taylor; son, Darrell Wayne Prcin and wife, Marla of Jacksonville, TX.; a daughter, Patricia Stiles and husband, Bo of Taylor; one brother, Victor Prcin of Belton; four sisters, Sybil Schrader and husband, Donald, Evelyn Leshikar and husband, Hudson, Lydia Fuessel, and Dorothy Zycha and husband, Johnny all of Taylor; three grandchildren, Kristen Pittman and husband, Chris, Jason Stiles, and Miles Prcin; one great-granddaughter, Scarlett Pittman. Pall bearers will be John Clark, Douglas Haverland, Miles Prcin, Victor Prcin, Jr., David Wernli, and Glenn Wernli.
