Wellington Leader December 16, 1971 A former Collingsworth County farm leader, O.M. Gunstream, 78, died at his home in Memphis Tuesday, December 7. He had retired from farming several years ago. Born in Hilltown, Oris Magnus Gunstream came to this area as a youth, along with other members of his family. He farmed here until 1938 when he and Mrs. Gunstream moved to Memphis. He had served that town two terms on the City Council and was an honorary steward at First United Methodist Church, where he had been a member of the Men's Bible Class many years. Mr. Gunstream was a Mason, a member of the Council-Chapter Commandry and the York Rite. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Vera Erma Gunstream; a son, M.D. Gunstream of Muleshoe; a daughter, Mrs. A.V. Lowrie of Dodson; three brothers and six sisters: E.G. Gunstream of Escalon, CA; Syrell Gunstream of El Monte, CA; Marlin Gunstream of El Chino, CA; Mrs. Eva Cornelius of Wellington; Mrs. Iola Anderson of Laverne, CA; Mrs. Sudie Decker of Upland, CA; Mrs. Marie Scott of Alpine, CA; Mrs. Christine Sanders of Pomona, CA; Mrs. Elizabeth Wilcox of San Jose, CA. There are three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
