Residence: Hereford, Colorado Tribute: Jim L. Hauer was born in Grover, CO to Carl Alfred and Charlotte Anna (Roberts) Hauer. Mr. Hauer was raised on a farm in Carpenter, WY, where he attended school.. He worked in the fields and helped milk cows as a young man. The Hauer family moved to Hereford, CO in 1941. Mr. Hauer loved riding horses when he was a child. As a young adult he lived in California where he worked on an assembly line in a car factory. On March 15, 1986 Jim married Jean Knapp at the Hereford Church. Later, Mr. Hauer purchased a truck line from an uncle in Grover. His love of truck driving extended throughout his life. Mr. Hauer played on a baseball team with the children's grandfather on Jean's side. He loved playing baseball with his children He was married first to Barbara Zink in 1949 (she was 17 and he was 16). The first child, Deborah Hauer, was born in 1950 and she was followed by a set of twins (Vickie & Vonnie), Kevin, Steve, and Dawn. Barbara's father, Vernon Zink, managed a baseball team in Grover.
