Butler County Press (David City, Nebr.), February 3, 1945, p. 4, col. 3 DEATH WAS IN OMAHA BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL Mrs. Frances Stanek Operated Meat Market Here Brainard, Feb. 5 – Ill for six months past Mrs. Frances Stanek died in St. Joseph's hospital, Omaha, Friday at 9:30 a.m. just ten days before she would have observed her 56th birthday anniversary. Mrs. Stanek was the widow of Rudolph C. Stanek, who passed away eight years ago. She leaves two sons, Pvt. Ernest R. Stanek of Topeka, Kas., and Frank J. of Omaha; one daughter, Mrs. Agnes Johnson of Omaha; a brother, Joe Jakub; and three sisters, Mrs. Anastasia Zeda of Winter Park, Colo., Mrs. Anna Stava of Bruno, and Mrs. Mary Houska of Dwight. February 12, 1889 was the date of Mrs. Stanek's birth, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jakub, Sr., living near Brainard at time of her birth. She grew up to young womanhood in this vicinity and was united in marriage to Rudolph Stanek October 11, 1911. For 24 years Mr. Stanek operated a meat market here, Mrs. Stanek and sons continuing with the business for eight years after his death. The body of Mrs. Stanek was returned from Omaha to Brainard, funeral services being held in Holy Trinity Catholic church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home to the church. Msgr. A. J. Klein conducted the services with the church choir and Sr. M. Genevieve, organist furnishing the music. St. Ludmila's society, of which Mrs. Stanek was a member, attended the services in a group. Interment was in Holy Trinity cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Leo Behne, Joe Janak, Rudolph Ludvick, Charles Novak, A. R. Pytlik and Joe Stava. Mrs. Stanek's two sons and daughter were in attendance at the services also her son-in-law, Virgil Johnson, of Omaha. Others coming from away were: Mrs. Ernest Stanek, Weston; Rudolph Ludvik and family of Wahoo; Miss Celestine Skoda of Lincoln; Frank Jakub and family of Omaha; Mrs. Ed Zeleny of Prague; Mr. and Mrs. John Kouma and Mrs. Mary Houska of Dwight; Mrs. Lizzie Jakub and family of Bellwood; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Pelan and Mrs. Frank Skoda of Bruno; and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bruner and Joe Havlena and daughters of David City. __ Card of Thanks – We wish express our sincere thanks to all the kind relatives, neighbors and friends who, in any way, assisted us during the illness and at time of death of our beloved mother and sister; to all those who gave spiritual and floral bouquets, to Msgr. Klein, members of St. Ludmila's Society, to the choir, pall bearers and Brainard Fire Department for attending in a body and for their patroling the streets during the funeral.
