Wood River, published in Wood River, Nebraska: Thurs., 15 Nov. 1945, page 1 PIONEER RESIDENT DIES IN CALIFORNIA Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Eaton Hendrickson will be held at the Methodist church at Alda Saturday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. Mrs. Hendrickson passed away at her home in California. She was a resident of this community for many years. -------------------------------------- Ida C. Fleisher Crawford Eaton Hendrickson was the daughter of John & Mary Ann Fleisher. She first married George B. Crawford and when George's sister, Clara, passed away, they adopted her baby son, Clair. A year later, George passed away and Ida continued to raise Clair until he was a teen and he then went to live with his birth father and family in South Dakota. Clair died at the age of 17 years old and is listed on the same headstone has his adoptive mother, Ida. Marriages of Ida: George B. Crawford (1861-1898) married 1893 Unknown Eaton married sometime between 1900 & 1910. In the 1900 Census, Ida lives in Nebraska, is wdowed and has the last name of Crawford. By the 1910 Census, Ida and Clair are living in Long Beach, CA and though she is listed as married (M2) and bears the last name of Eaton, no husband is listed in the household of Ida and Clair.
