FLEISCHER Alda, Oct. 17 - This morning death visited our village removing one of the honored pioneers of this community, Mrs. John Fleischer (sic). Mrs. Fleischer, whose maiden name was Mary A. Long, was born in Montgomery county, Pa., on May 28, 1841, and lived to be over 73 years of age. Her family moved to Wisconsin, where on February 14, 1862, she was married to John Fleischer, also a Pennsylvanian by birth. Young Fleischer, soon after his marriage, enlisted in the army, serving till the close of the war. When mustered out, John Fleischer and his young wife joined the throng moving into the then unsettled west, locating first in Montgomery county, Ia., where several of the six children who blessed the marriage were born, and where little Lizzie, aged 6 years, died. In August 1874, the Fleischer family located in Hall county on a farm in the Alda neighborhood. They have resided ever since in this community, of late years enjoying a beautiful home in the village. Mrs. Fleischer was a woman of strong convictions, great industry, and unflinching devotion to duty. She has made a lasting impression on the character of the community. The deceased leaves besides her husband a family of five children, all married. They are John Fleischer, jr., of Pleasant Grove, Cal., Elmer, of Durango, Colo., William, of Odessa, Neb., Mrs. Ida Eaton and Mrs. James Modesitt, of Alda. The funeral services consistent with the simple devoted life of the deceased, who adhered throughout her life to the United Evangelical church, in which she was christened, will be held from the family residence in Alda on Sunday, October 18, at 2 o'clock p.m.
