SMITH, Joel Edgar of Thorndale. Age 76. Died 1/16/1969 (Thursday) at his home. Services held (Sat.) in Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in Lawrence Chapel Cemetery. Rev. W.F. Griggs, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, officiated. Condra Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He was BORN 4/19/1892 in the Shiloh Comm., the son of the late James Washington Smith & Lula Florence Simmons Smith. He made his home for the last 2 years with his sister, Mrs. Walter Sanders. Member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and a veteran of WW-1. Preceded in death by 4 sisters and a brother. SURVIVORS: 3 sisters, Mrs. Sanders and Mrs. Oscar (Melissa) Smith, both of Thorndale; Mrs. Frankie Horacefield of Houston; number of nieces and nephews.
