Bio

RODENBECK, Martin of Thorndale. Age 68. Died 10/29/1973 (Monday) in a Taylor hospital after an extended illness. Services held (Wed.) at St.John's Lutheran Church, Thorndale. Rev. Walter Miller officiating. Burial was in Taylor City Cemetery. He was BORN 1/17/1905 in the Detmold Comm., the son of the late H.W. & Henrietta Kassen Rodenbeck and was a lifelong resident of Thorndale Community. Baptismal rites into the St.John Lutheran Church were administered by Pastor G.F. Walther on March 5, 1905. Married Alvina Kurio on 11/3/1926. Member of St.John's Lutheran Church, director of First Taylor National Bank since 1967 and had served on the Thorndale City Council. SURVIVORS: Wife, Alvina Rodenbeck; daughter, Mrs. Florence Davis of Rockwall; a son, Floyd G. (Pete) Rodenbeck; 2 sisters, Mrs. Louise Klotz and Mrs. Esther Kloppe; 2 brothers, Edwin and Bill Rodenbeck, both of Thorndale and 4 grandchildren. As a mark of respect the town of Thorndale was closed from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday during the services.
