James was born in Anderson Co, TX to John Lee Bert and Rubie Loraine Fletcher Dean. His parents are buried in Fields Chapel Cemetery in Anderson County. He shares a stone with his wife, Virginia Marie Morris Dean, who he married 8 November 1937. They were the parents of Elizabeth, Virginia and Gail. OBITUARY: Palestine (TX) Herald-Press, Friday, 4 October 1991: Services for James L. Dean, 71, of Palestine, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Herrington/Land of Memory with the Rev. Wayne Harberson officiating. Mr. Dean died at his home Thursday after a lengthy illness. A native of Anderson County, he was born March 17, 1920, to John Lee Bert and Rubie Loraine Fletcher Dean. He had lived here all his life. He retired in 1984 from the City of Palestine as Public Works Director with 44 years of service. He was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church and a former member of the Oddfellows Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Marie Morris Dean of Palestine; daughters, Elizabeth Ann Berryhill, Virginia Ann Quick and Juanice Gail Martin, all of Palestine; brothers, Emory Dean, Burma Dean and Willard Dean, All of Palestine, and Denzil Dean of Odessa; sisters, Eva Tenny of Palestine; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
