John was born in Leslie, Ark. to Rev. Jesse H and Sarah Woody Brooks Griffin. He married his first cousin Mary Griffin They Had six children Mary Lee, Jesse B, Scott, Charles Wesley, Clayton, and Johnson. His Wife Mary died in 1905 and is buried in Huntington Arkansas Cemetery, John remarried a Laura Patterson and to this marrage they had three children: Ruth, Ruby, and Paul, Laura died in 1922 in Searcy Arkansas. John again married a widow name Margaret Coleman. No children. John was a confederate soldier. He was also a Methodist minister. He died in Harrisburg Arkansas.
