Bio

Hortense attended Winona Normal School, studied at the Albert Lea College and recieved a degree from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN in 1899. She is a school teacher for many years at different schools in MN. She eventually becomes principal of the high school in Marshall, MN. She dies of cancer at age 53. At that time she was living at the home of her married sister Francis Schmitt in Minneapolis, MN. Hortense Robbins never married. * * * Miss Hortense Robbins died at the home of her sister Mrs. Dr. Smith (sic) in Minneapolis. The remains were brought to Austin on Saturday, Oct 21st for burial. Miss Robbins was a teacher in the schools at Austin and Minneapolis for a number of years. She will be remembered by our older readers. Her father Dr. Robbins lived here a number of years ago.
