Hartsfield. ∼ Transcription of Obituary from The Bryan Daily Eagle, 14 April 1993 Mary Ellen Hartsfield March 1, 1897-April 12, 1993 Funeral services for Mary Ellen Hartsfield, 96, of the Steep Hollow community in Brazos County will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Steep Hollow Baptist Church. The Rev. Larry Burkhalter, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Steep Hollow Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 6:30-9 tonight at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan. Mrs. Hartsfield died Monday morning in Sherwood Health Care. She was born in Brazos County and lived there all her life. Mrs. Hartsfield was a member of Steep Hollow Baptist Church for more than 50 years and family members said she will be remembered for her love of flowers, gardening and cooking for family and friends, and for the special love she had for her two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Albert Hartsfield; a son, Charles Wilmer Hartsfield; her daughter, Doris Merle Sanders; five sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include her brother, Thomas Morris Beal of Baytown; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Billy Bob and Patricia Sanders of Bryan; and two great grandchildren, Lisa Merle Sanders and Marsha Ann Sanders, both of Bryan.
