John F. Barta, 95, of Pearland, Texas, entered into eternal rest on March 3, 2020. John was born on November 18, 1924, in Weimar, Texas. He was the oldest of seven children and was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Rosie Barta, a baby son, his parents, three brothers and a sister. John is survived by sons, John Edward Barta and wife, Susan, and Gary Barta; daughter Regina Irish and husband, Barry; grandchildren Kathryn Barta, Jeff Byers and Sarah Irish; great-grandson Baylor Byers; sister Elizabeth Fields; brother Henry Barta and wife, Ethelene; sisters-in-law JoAnn, and Mary Ann and numerous nieces and nephews. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Okinawa, Japan and the Philippines. John and Rosie were married in 1950 in Jourdanton, Texas. They moved to Bay City, Texas in 1952 and in 1963 moved their family to Pearland, Texas where they were active in the establishment of St. Helen Catholic Church. Throughout the years, John and Rosie served the Parish through volunteer and charity work. He served on the Parish Council and Bazaar Committees and made many friends in the community. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and retired from Bado Equipment in Houston and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and working in his shop, which the family referred to as his "dog house". A devoted husband, father and grandfather, John was a quiet, honest, humble, hard working man, who took pride in providing for his family. He will be deeply missed.
