********************************************* Funeral Services for Mardell Hoerle, age 88, of Chambers, will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 24, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers, with burial in the Conley Cemetery in Rural Chambers. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M., Friday, October 23, 2015, at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Rev. John Ryding will officiate. Mardell passed away Wednesday morning, October 21, 2015, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. Memorials may be made to AseraCare Hospice, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers, or Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bartlett, NE. She is survived by her 3 children; Marie Payne and husband Gail of Ericson, NE, Ron Hoerle and wife Cindy of Rural Ewing, NE, Jim Hoerle and wife Viola of Chambers, NE, 9 Grandchildren, 20 Great Grandchildren, one sister, Ethel Jones of Lexington, NE, and one brother, Jim Butts and wife Mary Lou of O’Neill, NE. Mardell was born on April 7, 1927, in Plainview, NE, to James and Adeline (Homolka) Butts. She graduated from Chambers High School. Mardell worked at the Ordinance Plant in Hastings, NE, until she was married. On June 30, 1946, she married Eugene Hoerle in Chambers, NE; he passed away on March 26, 1970, after 24 years of marriage. To this union, 3 children were born: Marie, Ron and Jim. Mardell and Eugene owned and operated Hoerle’s Corner. They also farmed and ranched, had rental properties in Bartlett, NE, and owned and built the new post office in Bartlett, NE. Mardell was a member of the Chambers American Legion Auxiliary, St. Paul Lutheran Church, and the Garden Club- she loved her flower garden; she was a certified flower arrangement judge. She was also an avid reader, and loved to crochet. Mardell donated many Afghans to her family, friends and the Chambers community. The family wishes to extend a thank you to AseraCare Hospice and Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital and staff. They wish to extend special gratitude to Dr. Pete. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We will all miss her advice, creativity, generosity, and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Randy, one great granddaughter, Olivia, one sister Mary Bly, and one brother, Orin Butts. (biglinsmortuary.com/obituary)
