Ewing — Ronald "Ron" Eugene Hoerle, 70, of rural Ewing died Thursday, June 20, 2019 in Grand Island. Visitation was held Monday, June 24, 2019 at Biglin's Mortuary in O'Neill. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chambers. Rev. John Ryding officiated. Music was provided by organist Becky Larson. Pallbearers were Will Burtwistle, Glen Klumm, Gaylen Sprague, Brent Tagel, Jeremy Sladek, Jay Palmer, Pete Walnofer and Scott Phillbrick. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hubel, Roger Spulak, Jimmy Burtwistle, Ed Sladek, Keith Palmer, Terry Booth, Kevin Henn, Dan McLain, Les Green, American Legion Riders Post 93, Valley Rods Unlimited, Chamber Volunteer Fire Department and Sons of the American Legion Post 320. Burial was in the Conley Cemetery in rural Chambers. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation. Ron was born on Feb. 17, 1949 to Eugene and Mardell (Butts) Hoerle in O'Neill. He attended grade school at Holt County Country School 115J and graduated from Wheeler County High School in Bartlett in 1967. He excelled in football and was part of the "Half Ton of Beef" front line for the Wheeler County Broncos. After high school, he went to work at the gas station in Bartlett. After his father passed away in 1970, he moved home to run Hoerle's Corner which eventually became Ron's Mobil. Ron met Cindy Kraus when her brother left her at the station and he asked her to go to the races. They were married on April 14, 1973 in Burwell. They made their home at Hoerle's Corner, where they raised their family. Ron kept busy working at Ron's Mobil, side by side with his brother Jim. He loved to race stock cars. He raced for many years at all the area racetracks. He enjoyed attending gun shows, car shows, watching NASCAR, raising numerous abandoned animals, hunting, shooting and most of all being with his family. Ron was a member of the O'Neill American Legion Riders Post 93, Chambers Sons of the American Legion Post 320, Chambers Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years, Chambers Rural Fire boards, Valley Rods Unlimited Car Club and was a trustee for Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bartlett. Ron is survived by his wife of 46 years Cindy Hoerle of Ewing; four children Rhonda (Mike) Hopkins of Lancaster, NY, Shawn (Jessica) Hoerle of Lincoln, Jared (Rachael) Hoerle of Chambers and Shalane (Josh) Treptow of O'Neill; one daughter-in-law Kim Hoerle of Loup City; nine grandchildren Catherine, Kassidy, Ethan, Lilly, Gunner, Ella, Ayden, Gracie and Lakelyn; one sister Marie (Gail) Payne of Ericson; one brother Jim (Viola) Hoerle of Chambers; one sister-in-law Dixie Kraus of Taylor; one brother-in-law Tracy (Suzanne) Kraus of Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father- and mother-in-law Son and Colene Kraus; and one son Randy Hoerle.
