Herald Coaster, March 15, 1971: Mr. Alfred W. Walenta, 73, of 1410 First St., Rosenberg, passed away Friday, March 5, 1971, in the Eldridge Memorial Hospital in Sugar Land after a lengthy illness. He was born January 10, 1898 in Burleson, Texas, the son of Joseph and Anna Walenta, a resident of Fort Bend County since 1909, and a treasurer for the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #114. Survivors include wife, Mrs. Milady Walenta of Rosenberg; daughters, Mrs. Gary Ashley of Richmond; grandchildren, Patrick and Shawn Ashley of Richmond; sisters, Mrs. Emily Kovar of Rosenberg, Mrs. Liddie Sitta of Pleak; brother, Emil Walenta of Rosenberg; also several nieces and nephews survive. Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 1971, from the First Presbyterian Church in Rosenberg, with the Rev. Frank Cate officiating. Interment was in the W.O.W. Cemetery in Rosenberg. Pallbearers were Robert Ross, Jerry Luksa, Louis Senkel, Bill Koyn, Larry Sebesta, and Jerry Nichols. Services were under the direction of Garmany & Co. Funeral Directors.
